GENERAL APPEARANCE : The Vizsla is easily recognized by its elegant golden rust color.  They can be between 53  at 60  kg  and are the image of a hunter's companion.  The long, silky ears frame a facial expression that is sensitive and loving.  How a hunting dog is expected to work  Working closely with humans, Vizslas form a strong bond with their owners and do not like to be left alone.  alone.

From the first lineage after its ancestors, this new dog would have gone through another cross that this time would be between the  sloughi  (a strong dog of North African origin) and another dog with hunting characteristics and that had yellow fur that was used by Ottoman peoples in the 16th century - a fact that influenced the final color of its coat.  This new crossover spawned a new, even faster Vizsla. This breed is also known as the Hungarian White Pointer and was at risk of extinction after the First World War, a fact that was only prevented by conservation actions.

Country of Origin: Hungary.

BEHAVIOR AND TEMPERAMENT:  It is a very easy dog to learn from its training, as well as to obey its owners, being very calm to have at home,  balanced and pleasant. It should be neither aggressive nor shy.



Skull: Moderately wide and rounded. A slightly pronounced groove descends from the slightly developed occiput towards the stop.  

Stop : Moderate.



Snout:  straight nose bridge,  snout stocky, not pointed; with strong jaws and  quite muscular.  

Nose: The color harmonizes with the coat tone, it is well developed and wide with open nostrils.

Jaws and Teeth:  scissor bite  with strong jaws.

Lips: Close fitting, without hanging lips.

Expression: Lively and intelligent.

Eyes: Medium-sized oval, color that harmonizes with the coat, the darker the better.

Ears : Set high, of medium length. Gently pointed at the ends.

NECK : Of medium size, in harmony with the trunk. Muscular and arched neck.


Top Row: Level.

Back: Well developed, solid, strong and muscular.

TAIL : Set on and carried low, straight and saber-shaped, well covered with dense coat.




Shoulders:  Long, sloping and flat; very dry and strong. Well angled between shoulder and arm

Elbows: Close to the chest and well angulated.

Feet: Strong brown nails, slightly oval, with closed and well arched toes.


Hocks: Well let down and bent.

  Long and muscular with good angulation.  

Paws :  Strong brown nails, slightly oval, with closed, well-arched toes.

  • GAIT/MOVEMENT: Movement with a light trot, light and elegant and with good reach.

  • COAT

Hair : Short, dense and hard to the touch. On the head and ears, they are thinner, silkier and shorter. The fur under the tail should be slightly longer.

  • COLOR: Shades of golden red and dark sand gold


SIZE: Females - 54 to  60 cm. cm/Males - 58 to 64 cm

  • FAULTS  

Any deviation from this standard should be considered a fault and penalized in exact proportion to its severity and its effects on the health and well being of the dog.  



• Aggressiveness or excessive shyness.

• Any dog that shows any sign of physical or behavioral anomaly must be disqualified.
